J.O.T. Anytime: Held
This may be one of my favorite covers we have ever released, because the woman on the front reminds me of me. A mother cloaked in light even when she felt surrounded by darkness. With a child snuggled into her, loving her despite her flaws. This woman, represents my battle with Postpartum Depression and my fight to never give up.
The artist, Sydney Bennett, and I met at a pop-up market and I instantly fell in love with her art. I asked her right on the spot if she would do a cover for me and she said absolutely. We bonded over our shared struggles with depression, and I asked if she could create a painting that would resonate with mothers.
Wow, did she deliver.
We decided to title this painting Held because while we are often holding our littles through motherhood, I think we neglect to remember that so often they are the ones holding us.
This painting represents my desire to empower mothers to record their feelings and memories simultaneously through journaling. I firmly believe writing, despite how busy this time of life is, will benefit mothers now and for generations to come.
